We will often include profiling as an integral part of the

One-to-one programme

It can be a useful add-on for people attending the seminar, or as a standalone service for career changers or those having difficulties in presenting themselves to employers.

'Accountants are introverts, great with the numbers, but they can’t handle people’

‘Salespeople are pushy extroverts, useless with admin’

‘Police Officers love rules & making motorists squirm’

Of course, these stereotypes are wrong (well maybe not all of the time!)  But it is true that certain personality types are attracted towards particular careers, jobs and work environments; and equally true that some people are stuck in careers, jobs and environments for which they are temperamentally unsuited.

Understanding your personality type and behavioural preferences is a great way to assess whether you are in the right place or where you might be headed. It is particularly useful when contemplating:

• A complete career change

• A change to the employment model - employed, self-employed, interim or portfolio lifestyle

• Moving you career to an unfamiliar sector

Insights gained can also help improve your communications with others when networking or applying for jobs

We use the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) as an excellent instrument to pull out all those ‘am I or aren’t I’, or ‘can I or can’t I’ type issues.

"Whatever the circumstances of your life, the understanding of type can make your perception clearer, your judgement sounder and your life closer to your heart's desire“

Isabel Briggs Myers

More about MBTI

MBTI is  self-report instrument which provides insights into psychological and behavioural preferences.  These insights build self-awareness and help us understand and appreciate normal differences between people, differences which can cause misunderstanding, irritation and even prejudice.  We can use our understanding of self and of difference to improve our communication with others and our ability to cooperate with & appreciate people who are different.
